The Wrestling Mogul Shares His Vision for Reigniting the Bloodline Storyline

Eric Bischoff, a name synonymous with wrestling’s golden era, recently shared his insights on the direction of the Bloodline storyline. During a segment on his “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff delved deep into the intricacies of wrestling narratives and the potential future of the Bloodline.

During a top guy weekend, Kevin Sullivan mentioned that the Bloodline is one of the greatest stories of all time. He contrasted it with the NWO, which, while elevating heels, didn’t necessarily create new babyface stars. Bischoff, however, pointed out the rise of stars like Sting, Lex Luger, DDP, and Goldberg during the NWO era.

The discussion then shifted to the current state of the Bloodline. Bischoff emphasized the need for a rejuvenated Jey Uso, one who’s confident, hungry, and unwilling to back down. He suggested that reintroducing Sammy into the storyline could be the catalyst for this transformation in Jey. A fired-up Jey Uso, backed by Sammy, could breathe new life into the narrative.

Bischoff also touched upon the idea of a six-man match, potentially featuring Sammy, Kevin, and Jay against Jimmy, Solo, and Roman. However, he stressed the importance of building a solid story foundation before jumping into match-making.

Reflecting on the Bloodline’s recent match at SummerSlam, Bischoff expressed his reservations about it being a hardcore match. He felt that relying on gimmicks and hardcore elements often indicates a need for more fresh ideas. For Bischoff, the essence of a compelling wrestling story lies in the “why” and the motivation behind characters’ actions.
