Live Nation Challenges MLW's Request in WWE Lawsuit

Live Nation Entertainment Pushes Back Against MLW’s Demand for WWE Contract Documentation

Major concert promoter and venue operator, Live Nation Entertainment, has officially objected to Major League Wrestling’s (MLW) request for specific documentation in their ongoing lawsuit against WWE. According to reports from PWInsider, MLW had approached Live Nation with letters asking for details regarding WWE’s contracts with the booking company.

MLW’s request was comprehensive, seeking documents related to exclusivity provisions in contracts, WWE’s requests for exclusivity in booking Live Nation venues, and communications about third parties or competitors attempting to book these venues. Additionally, MLW wanted information on any instances where WWE might have asked Live Nation to cancel or not promote non-WWE events, especially if WWE threatened retaliatory actions or if there were provisions preventing Live Nation from promoting competitor events close to WWE events.

Live Nation’s response was firm, arguing that MLW’s request was “overbroad” and lacked a specific time frame. They also raised concerns about the vagueness of the term “exclusivity” and claimed that the request could potentially reveal privileged and confidential information. Highlighting the breadth of MLW’s demand, Live Nation pointed out that the request seemed to span back to 2001, implying a search through 22 years of records, which they deemed “unduly burdensome.”

The court has yet to make a decision on Live Nation’s objection.
