Zoey Stark defends Triple H’s decision to cut the highly anticipated match between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus from SummerSlam, promising a future showdown worth waiting for
WWE’s SummerSlam event is set to take over Detroit’s Ford Field, but the much-anticipated match between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus will not be taking place. The decision to cut the match has upset many fans, but Zoey Stark has come to Triple H’s defense. In an interview with Stephanie Hypes of Ten Count, Stark stated that Triple H’s decision was not meant to undermine the women’s division but to ensure that Lynch and Stratus have ample time for a future match.
Stark said, “Hunter [Triple H] is a smart man. There is a reason, guys. He’s not just doing it to screw the women. He’s not. He’s doing it because he wants to make sure Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus have plenty of time to do it. I’m sure there are other reasons that come into play that we’re not even thinking about. When we get the match, and we will, it will be great, and we will have plenty of time, and it’s going to be a match well worth waiting for.”
WWE also announced that Becky Lynch will face Trish Stratus on Monday Night Raw in two weeks. The decision to cut the match from SummerSlam was reportedly influenced by the Slim Jim Battle Royal match, which is generating significant revenue for WWE.
