Shida Makes History as First Two-Time Champion in AEW
Hikaru Shida, the renowned professional wrestler, has once again proven her mettle in the ring by securing the AEW Women’s Championship. This victory, which took place during the main event of the August 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, marks Shida’s second time holding the title, making her the first two-time champion in AEW’s history.
Shida’s opponent, Toni Storm, had previously won the interim AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW All Out 2022. However, Shida’s win solidified her position as the main champion twice.
Shida expressed her gratitude to her fans in a heartfelt tweet, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout her journey. She wrote, “I did it. You all did it. We did it together because I couldn’t do this without you guys. Thank you so much. I heard you this time.”
In an empty arena, Shida’s first title win occurred during the pandemic era at AEW Double or Nothing 2020. This time, she had the opportunity to celebrate her victory in front of a live crowd, making it all the more special.
