Rhodes Trains with Carmelo Hayes in Preparation for His WWE Return
Before his much-anticipated return at the Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes took to the ring to train with NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. The session was part of Rhodes’ preparation for his WWE comeback, and it was captured in the documentary series “American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes,” available for streaming on Peacock in the U.S. and WWE Network elsewhere.
The training session was not just about Rhodes getting ready; it was also a learning experience for Hayes. “The thing about Cody is, if he thinks I’m here to help him, but in reality, he’s helping me,” Hayes said. “It’s cool to get in there with somebody such a pro like Cody. I think he’s ready to go, man. He was fine, I had to take it up a notch to meet him.”
Rhodes echoed Hayes’ sentiments, expressing his readiness for the upcoming event. “That was really exciting for me to feel ready,” Rhodes said. “Everyone was there to help me check those boxes.”
