PlayStation announces the release of its fully customizable Access Controller, marking a significant step towards gaming accessibility

In a move that celebrates Disability Pride Month and the anniversary of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act, PlayStation has announced the release date and price for its much-anticipated Access Controller. The controller, which is designed to accommodate any player’s specific needs, will be available for preorder on July 21st and officially launching in the US on December 6th.

The Access Controller is deeply customizable, allowing players to map buttons to create up to 30 control profiles, adjust stick settings, toggle commands on/off, or disable buttons altogether to prevent accidental pressing. This level of customization is a testament to PlayStation’s commitment to accessibility, a commitment that has been reflected in the extensive accessibility features of multiple first-party PlayStation games like God of War, the Horizon series, and The Last of Us.

The Access Controller can be paired with another Access, a PS5 controller, or up to four additional third-party accessibility accessories. It will retail at a suggested price of $89.99, marking a significant step towards making gaming more accessible for all.
