The viral popularity of the beverage among young followers raises health concerns due to its high caffeine content

Senator Charles Schumer has called on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate Prime, a beverage brand founded by WWE superstar and social media influencer Logan Paul and KSI. The drink has gained viral popularity among the influencers’ young followers, raising concerns about its potentially dangerous levels of caffeine.

Schumer has expressed concern over Prime being one of the summer’s hottest status symbols for kids, stating that it poses a serious health concern for the young audience it targets. Despite being advertised as having zero sugar and being vegan, Prime reportedly contains 200 milligrams of caffeine per 12 ounces. This is equivalent to caffeine in about half a dozen Coke cans or almost two Red Bulls.

Due to its high caffeine content, Prime has been banned in some schools in the United Kingdom and Australia. Pediatricians in these countries are warning the public regarding the potential health impacts on young children, including heart problems, anxiety, and digestive issues.

Schumer’s letter to the FDA argues that there is no difference in the online marketing of the two drinks, leading parents to believe they were buying the drink for kids, which contains what’s described as a “cauldron of caffeine.”
