Hayes Reflects on His Bout with Finn Bálor, Looks Ahead to NXT Gold Rush Showdown with Baron Corbin
NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes reflected on his match against Finn Bálor, one of the best in the world. Despite not achieving the outcome he wanted, Hayes showed a positive outlook, acknowledging the caliber of his opponent and the experience gained from the match.
Hayes said, “Sure, I can’t take away from Finn Bálor, Judgment Day. Finn is one of the best in the world. If I gotta take a loss to one of the best in the world, I can accept that.”
However, Hayes’ focus is already on his next challenge – a match against Baron Corbin for the NXT Championship at NXT Gold Rush. Despite admitting he’s not at 100%, Hayes expressed confidence in his ability to triumph over Corbin, stating, “I believe I can beat Baron at 75%, at 50%, at 25%. I know he’s gonna put up a great fight, but I’m ready man.”
Hayes concluded with a powerful affirmation, “I might take a loss, but I look in the mirror and I’m still Carmelo Hayes. So that’s a W.”
