‘Young Rock’ Bid Farewell After 3 Seasons
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, an iconic figure in the realm of professional wrestling and a thriving Hollywood star, has maintained a strong connection to his wrestling roots. His show, ‘Young Rock,’ delved into his early life, but unfortunately, it faced uncertainties. Regrettably, it has now been confirmed that the show has been cancelled after three seasons.
‘Young Rock,’ produced by NBC, aimed to chronicle the life and career of the legendary “Great One.” Fans had high expectations for an emotionally captivating journey, akin to Eminem’s acclaimed film ‘8 Mile,’ considering Johnson’s struggles growing up in poverty.
However, the show faced numerous issues and garnered consistent criticism, particularly regarding casting choices. As previously reported, the possibility of cancellation loomed over ‘Young Rock’ on NBC.
Today, NBC announced that ‘Young Rock’ would not return to their lineup this fall. This decision came as no surprise, as the show was notably absent from NBC’s fall line-up announcement last month.
During its first season, ‘Young Rock’ averaged over 3 million viewers with a demo rating of 0.62. However, viewership declined in the second season, averaging 2.23 million viewers and a 0.39 demo rating. The largest drop occurred in the third season when the show was moved to Friday nights, competing against Smackdown. It garnered an average of 1.4 million viewers with a rating of 0.25. While some fans will undoubtedly miss the show, NBC ultimately decided that it was not worth renewing for a fourth season.
