Former NFL punter and WWE commentator Pat McAfee has shed light on his current relationship with WWE and his potential return to the company. McAfee, who has been absent from WWE since September last year, made appearances at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 39 before transitioning to ESPN College GameDay.

In a recent conversation on the SI Media podcast, McAfee revealed that he maintains regular communication with key WWE executives, including Michael Cole, Nick Khan, Kevin Dunn, Triple H, and Vince McMahon. The discussions revolve around his possible return to the WWE universe.

“My relationship with the WWE, I don’t want to say [it’s] stronger than it’s ever been, but actually stronger than it’s ever been, and we are all very much talking about how I get back in the universe because I love it… I think I’m supposed to be in there,” McAfee stated.

He also disclosed that both Khan and McMahon advised him during negotiations with ESPN. McAfee, who believes he has a flair for commentary, expressed his affection for WWE and his eagerness to make a comeback.

Last month, McAfee announced a new agreement with ESPN to bring his show, The Pat McAfee Show, to the network this fall. The show will be accessible on ESPN’s cable channels, YouTube channel, and ESPN+. The NY Post reported that the deal is for five years and $85 million, but McAfee did not confirm these figures.

As McAfee and WWE continue their dialogue, fans are eagerly anticipating the return of his unique commentary style to the WWE universe.
