Pat McAfee Criticizes AEW Over Unfilled Seats at Double Or Nothing Event

AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view, held on Sunday, May 28, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, was filled with memorable moments and surprises. However, one aspect that didn’t go unnoticed was the number of empty seats at the event. Pat McAfee, host of the Pat McAfee Show, didn’t hesitate to point this out.

The pay-per-view event featured several exciting matches, including Kris Statlander’s surprising return to dethrone Jade Cargill as the TBS Women’s Champion. MJF also retained his AEW World Championship in a thrilling four-way match. Despite these highlights, the event struggled to sell tickets, resulting in noticeable empty seats.

Adding to AEW’s woes, a video of a fan watching NXT Battleground during the AEW Double or Nothing event went viral. McAfee took this opportunity to take a jab at AEW for the lack of an audience.

“Anytime you get a shot away from hard cam, you can really see a lot of things AEW found that out this weekend at one of their events. It’s like three quarters of the arena was completely empty, it’s like ‘Oh they don’t want that photo out there,” McAfee said on his show.

Even NXT made a few veiled references to Double or Nothing during this week’s episode. Despite the criticism, AEW fans are hopeful that the promotion will consider these comments and strive for better in the future.
