Former NXT superstar Sareee, also known as Sarray, left WWE back in March despite having arrived with much promise and fanfare. The 27-year-old wrestler did not feature much on TV during her time with the company, and her last match was against former NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose in August 2022. However, in a recent interview with Web Sportiva, Sareee revealed that WWE had attempted to keep her in the company.
“There was talk of renewing the contract, but I wanted to do wrestling that I believed in, and at 27 years old, I was at my most physically active, so I thought, I will regret it if I don’t do the wrestling I have wanted to do for a long time now,” said Sareee.
While there were reports indicating that William Regal’s departure from WWE in January 2022 may have contributed to Sareee’s decision to leave, the Japanese wrestler had a positive outlook on her time in the United States following her exit from the company.
“I think I have absorbed many things in my own way in WWE, and no matter what anyone says, I have no regrets about going to America. I think that everything I have learned in the past two years has been positive, and I want to show everyone a new, more powerful Sareee,” added Sareee.
Despite being regarded as a promising star, Sareee’s exit from WWE was surprising. Prior to joining the company in February 2020, she had established herself as a notable figure in the Japanese wrestling scene. Moreover, her impressive skills and athleticism during her appearance in the Mae Young Classic in 2018 had also garnered praise from fans.
While it remains unclear what Sareee’s future plans in professional wrestling entail, she has indicated that she wants to pursue wrestling that resonates with her personal beliefs and values. Additionally, she has expressed a desire to exhibit a more formidable side of herself to the wrestling world.
