WWE Hall of Famer Kane is undoubtedly one of the most revered and beloved Superstars in the wrestling industry. Despite having numerous high-profile matches and unforgettable moments throughout his career, Kane never had the chance to face off against some of his fellow WWE Superstars, including Kevin Nash. In a recent episode of his Kliq This podcast, Nash finally revealed the reason behind their missed opportunity.
Kane burst onto the scene in 1997 with a bang, making a memorable debut at the infamous Hell in a Cell match at Badd Blood and quickly establishing himself as one of the most dominant and intimidating figures in WWE’s storied history. Despite sharing a similar stature and strength, Kevin Nash and Kane never had the chance to collide inside the squared circle during the peak of their respective careers.
Nash made his WWE return in 2002, joining forces with Hulk Hogan and Scott Hall to reform the nWo. At WrestleMania 18, Hogan and Hall faced off against The Rock and Steve Austin, respectively, but Nash was not given an opponent for the event.
When asked about the missed opportunity to face Kane during his podcast, Nash suggested that WWE likely did not have any plans for them to cross paths at that time, stating, “I don’t know if we were ever going that way. I mean, you would think if they were going to, it would have been out of the shoot and I would have went to ‘Mania with him, and Scott with Austin, so I don’t think they really had [plans].”
After leaving WWE, Nash went on to compete in TNA for several years before returning to WWE for a brief stint before retiring from professional wrestling. Despite achieving many accolades throughout his remarkable career, Nash’s inability to square off against Kane at WrestleMania is still regarded as one of WWE’s most tantalizing unrealized matchups.
