During a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, Johnny Gargano opened up about his highly-anticipated return to the NXT brand and his upcoming match against Grayson Waller at NXT Stand & Deliver.
After his contract expired, Gargano had previously left NXT in December 2021 and joined the Raw brand in August 2022. However, he made a shock return to NXT to settle the score with Waller, who had attacked him during his final segment on the show. Gargano expressed that his return to NXT had been a moment long-awaited and that he was thrilled to have one more TakeOver event under his belt to conclude his story in NXT.
During the interview, Gargano spoke about his emotions on returning to NXT and his upcoming match against Waller. He said, “To be able to come back there, it was a moment that was in the works for a long time. Obviously, when I came back to WWE, that was always in the back of my mind. The moment Grayson Waller took me out, if things were to work out and I was to come back to WWE, I knew that we would settle the score sometime, someplace, right place, right time. To come back to NXT and have that moment, hear that crowd, and have it be a complete surprise. Say what you want about the Garganos, the Garganos can keep a secret. No one knows when we’re showing up anywhere. To have that moment again really filled my heart with much joy. It’s an amazing thing and I’m very excited for Stand & Deliver to get one more TakeOver event under my belt and wrap my story up the right way.”
When asked about the potential of splitting his time between NXT and Raw in the future, Gargano shared that Stand & Deliver would conclude his story in NXT. He is scheduled to take on Grayson Waller in an Unsanctioned match at the event, and fans are eagerly anticipating how their intense and heated rivalry will unfold in the ring.
