According to a recent report by Dave Meltzer in Friday’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, plans were being made to bring back the much-loved wrestler CM Punk to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). However, it’s still being determined what the current status of these plans is.
Meltzer stated that Tony Khan, AEW’s CEO and President, wanted to have CM Punk back in the company and that a reconciliation agreement had been reached. This agreement’s details are unknown, but Meltzer mentioned that Punk’s Instagram comments from last week might have affected the situation. The Instagram post saw Punk going off on Tony Khan, Jon Moxley, Meltzer, and Chris Jericho. Although the post was removed, it caused some controversy.
Amid the uncertainty surrounding CM Punk’s potential return to AEW, Dave Meltzer has suggested that AEW’s reported interest in booking the United Center in Chicago for All Out this year may be related to Punk’s planned return. However, the current status of the situation remains uncertain, with Meltzer stating that there are “tons of complicated issues involved and differences of opinions on the subject.”
While the news of Punk’s potential return to AEW was met with much excitement from fans, his Instagram outburst has thrown a wrench in the works. Regardless, fans hope they see the AEW star back in the ring soon.
During a recent live recording of FTR with Dax Harwood in Los Angeles, Harwood shared text messages from Punk with the audience. Punk reportedly said he misses the fans and wishes he “bought them all ice cream.” It remains to be seen what the future holds for Punk and AEW, but fans eagerly await any updates regarding the situation.
