Edge, a legendary WWE superstar, has had a storied career with the company, earning numerous championships and cementing his place in WWE history. After retiring in 2011 due to serious neck issues, Edge made a miraculous comeback at the 2020 Royal Rumble event, reigniting his passion for the wrestling industry.

Recently, Edge opened up about a tempting offer he received from a rival wrestling promotion, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), in 2019. Despite the offer, Edge ultimately chose to remain loyal to WWE, where he spent his entire career outside the independent circuit.

In an interview with SportsNet 590 The Fan, Edge spoke about his thought process upon receiving the offer from AEW:

“There was an opportunity to [leave WWE]. Again, it’s where I’ve spent my entire career outside of the indies. This year will be my 25th year with WWE since my television debut. Just having been there so long and understanding how it works, understanding the machine that it is, there’s something to be said for that. There’s also something to be said for trying something new and exciting. A new set of faces and a new way for the way things work.”

Edge went on to explain that his loyalty to WWE was a driving factor in his decision to stay with the company, as it was where he had always wanted to be and where he had grown up watching wrestling. However, he also acknowledged the appeal of trying something new and exciting.

Despite the temptation of a new opportunity, Edge has continued to thrive in his second run with WWE. He is set to compete in a highly anticipated Hell in a Cell match against Finn Balor at WrestleMania 39, with Balor confirmed to bring his demon persona to the cell. It has been speculated that Edge may resurrect his Brood character to counter Balor’s demonic antics in what is sure to be a thrilling matchup.
