For Some Reason, GTA V Emerges as the Second Best-Selling 'Automobile Sim' in Steam's Spring Sale

As a gamer, I know that trying to resist the allure of Steam’s seasonal sales is like tempting fate itself. And this Spring Sale is no exception – I was browsing the racing games and couldn’t help but laugh when I saw that Grand Theft Auto 5 was tagged as an “automobile sim” and sitting pretty as the second top seller in this category. The irony is too much when you think about all the mayhem players create with cars in GTA Online.

You can’t escape the influence of GTA in the entertainment industry these days. Even if you want to talk about TV shows, some reference or meme from Vice City is always popping up. If you go on Twitter, you might see rumors and leaks about the next GTA game, which is allegedly delayed until 2025.

But what fascinates me is how GTA V, a 10-year-old game, continues dominating the market and stealing the spotlight from newer releases. It’s a phenomenon that’s never been seen before in the history of video games. It makes me wonder how big of an impact the next GTA VI installment will have on the industry.

But enough about GTA – let’s talk about the top-selling racing game on Steam’s Spring Sale: Forza Horizon 5. This arcade-style racing game has a new DLC called Rally Adventure, which features a stunning new map and ten new vehicles. You can drive through dusty trails, an abandoned quarry, or deformable sand dunes. And if you’re feeling destructive, you can smash through the Palm Forest area and take out every tree in sight.

If you don’t already own Forza Horizon 5, now’s the time to get it – it’s 40% off at $36. But if you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can play it for free, along with Forza Horizon 4, the third top-selling racing game on the Spring Sale.

There are also some other great deals, like F1 22 at 85% off for almost $10, Snowrunner at 45% off for $16.5, and Need for Speed Unbound at half off for $35. Dirt Rally 2.0 is also a steal at 75% off for just $5, and Assetto Corsa Competizione is 70% off for $12. If you’re into motorcycles, check out Ride 4 for just $10, discounted from $50.

And if you’re looking for something different, BeamNG.drive is currently 20% off at $20. This physics-based simulator is an excellent choice if you’re tired of mainstream games and want to try something new. But get started – the sale only lasts until March 23!
