Despite Rey Mysterio’s reluctance to face his own flesh and blood in the ring, the luchadore legend can’t let his frustrations go unaddressed. As the WWE universe witnessed on SmackDown this week, rising superstar LA Knight bore the brunt of Mysterio’s pent-up aggression.
Following his quick and embarrassing defeat at the hands of Xavier Woods, a seething Knight was approached for an interview backstage. However, his attention was immediately diverted when he spotted Mysterio standing nearby.
In a moment of reckless provocation, Knight marched up to Mysterio and challenged him to a match, declaring that if the luchadore legend refused to face his son at WrestleMania, he should step up to the plate and face Knight instead. Not content with merely issuing the challenge, Knight went as far as to suggest changing his name to “LA Mysterio.”
But before he could finish his sentence, Mysterio unleashed a devastating right hook to Knight’s face, leaving the self-proclaimed “million-dollar megastar” reeling. WWE has announced that Mysterio and Knight will settle their score in a highly-anticipated one-on-one showdown on the next episode of SmackDown, making it the only confirmed match for the upcoming event.
