WrestleMania 35: WWE Scrapped Dominik Mysterio Angle

WWE is no stranger to developing creative storylines and angles to captivate their fans. However, the company is equally known for abandoning such angles before they even make it onto television programming. This was the case with RAW’s current sensation, Dominik Mysterio, who was originally meant to be part of an angle at WrestleMania 35.

Dominik Mysterio made his official WWE debut in 2020 as the tag team partner of his father, Rey Mysterio. He later parted ways with his father to join the notorious faction, The Judgment Day.

However, the young superstar was supposed to make his debut at WrestleMania 35, one year before his official debut. At the time, Rey Mysterio was in a heated feud with Samoa Joe over the WWE United States championship, and the duo was set to clash in a mega-match at the event.

Sadly, Rey Mysterio’s legitimate ankle problem put a halt to the planned angle where Samoa Joe was supposed to injure Dominik. Dave Schilling, who was a member of the WWE creative staff at the time, revealed during a live-tweeting session that the angle was scrapped due to Rey Mysterio’s injury on the April 1st, 2019, episode of RAW, where he lost to Baron Corbin.

However, this year’s WrestleMania is shaping up to be different for the Mysterio family, with Dominik Mysterio set to face off against his father, Rey Mysterio. The father-son duo has been embroiled in a heated feud for months, and their impending match will surely capture fans’ attention worldwide.
