News on AEW Revolution pay-per-view buys

0

Dave Meltzer provided an update on the projected final buys for AEW Revolution during Wednesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio. According to Meltzer, the final numbers for this month’s pay-per-view are expected to be in the range of low-to-mid 130,000s due to strong late buys.

Compared to November’s Full Gear, Meltzer noted that international streaming buys and linear TV PPV buys were down, but he didn’t have the final numbers on domestic streaming buys.

At the post-Revolution press conference, AEW head Tony Khan estimated that the show would finish between 130,000-140,000 buys based on early numbers. This is a drop from 2022’s 175,000 buys for Revolution and more in line with 2021’s 135,000.

Additionally, the number is lower than the 140,000 range they hit for their last three PPVs: June’s Forbidden Door, September’s All Out, and November’s Full Gear.

It’s worth noting that the show aired a day after a significant UFC PPV that featured the return of Jon Jones in a fight for the vacant heavyweight title. This could have affected some buys for AEW Revolution.

As the dust settles, AEW will continue to assess their numbers and work on ways to improve and grow their viewership for future events.
