Ric Flair Unveils Latest Inductee to WWE Hall of Fame

Ric Flair, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, is well-versed in the significance and dignity of the esteemed Hall of Fame. He recently disclosed the newest member to be recognized at the 2023 ceremony: The Great Muta, the iconic Japanese wrestler.

Despite never competing in WWE, The Great Muta is widely recognized as one of the most exceptional wrestlers in history. His retirement tour in late 2022 marked the conclusion of a remarkable era in professional wrestling, and his inclusion in the WWE Hall of Fame is a fitting acknowledgment of his extraordinary career.

As per ESPN, the reveal of Muta’s induction was highly awaited and was confirmed by Flair on WWE The Bump. Although Muta never participated in WWE, he did take part in the NJPW & WWF Champions Series in Japan in 1985 and had successful runs in NWA and WCW, where he won the WCW Tag Team Championship and had a memorable rivalry with Sting.

Muta also frequently challenged for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Flair, cementing his status as a true legend in the business. The conclusion of his career in wrestling was symbolized by his last singles match against Shinsuke Nakamura on January 1. Nakamura is presently contracted to WWE, and the encounter marked the end of a significant era.

Joining Rey Mysterio as the first inductees announced for this year’s ceremony, The Great Muta’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is a testament to his incredible impact on the world of professional wrestling. As the rest of the inductees are announced, fans can look forward to celebrating the careers of these icons in the sport.
