Xbox Details Their Approach to Exclusive Call of Duty Content

0

In the world of gaming, Call of Duty is one of the most popular and successful franchises. It’s no secret that different platforms have used the game to entice players to purchase certain consoles. Marketing deals between the game and Xbox and PlayStation have been a regular occurrence, with each platform getting exclusive content like early access, exclusive cosmetic items, and beta access.

However, with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision on the horizon, Xbox has come out to clarify how it will handle exclusive content for the game. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed no plans for exclusive content in Call of Duty after Xbox takes ownership of the franchise. This means that every platform will get the same experience and no exclusive guns, skins, or missions.

Spencer also wants to treat Call of Duty like Minecraft, where players across all platforms get the same experience, regardless of the forum. The only difference here would be that the game would be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, which is undoubtedly a massive benefit and a form of exclusivity in a way.

It’s worth noting that the marketing deal between Call of Duty and PlayStation ends next year. If the acquisition falls through, Xbox could swoop in and make Call of Duty a Game Pass franchise by securing a marketing deal with the game. As of now, it’s unclear if the acquisition will go through, but if it does, players can expect a more unified experience when it comes to Call of Duty.
