News on Kenny Omega and AEW

Kenny Omega, one of the top wrestlers in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has had his contract extended due to time lost from injuries, though the length of the extension remains unknown. This update was reported by Dave Meltzer in today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter and further elaborated on in Friday’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

Omega was sidelined for around nine months between November 2021 and August 2022 as he underwent surgeries and rehabilitation for various injuries. His contract was initially set to expire on January 31st of this year. Omega signed a four-year deal that began on February 1st, 2019, without an extension option. However, it did include an injury clause that enabled AEW to extend it.

Meltzer shared that the exact length of the extension “hasn’t been finalized,” but Omega, who is part of the current AEW Trios Champions alongside the Young Bucks, is working under a new contract. Meltzer also discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio that he was curious if any additional time could be added due to Omega’s suspension following the All Out fight.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Omega’s contract, he and the Young Bucks are scheduled to defend their Trios titles against the House of Black at next Sunday’s Revolution. As Omega recovers and reclaims his spot as one of AEW’s biggest stars, fans eagerly await further updates on his contract situation.
