Worcester, Massachusetts is getting a taste of the apocalypse once again. The Walking Dead: Dead City has rolled into town for two days of filming, with the city’s downtown area transformed into a gritty, post-apocalyptic version of New York.

According to local police, filming will take place on October 29 and 30, leading to temporary road closures. Franklin Street from Main to Portland and Federal Street will be closed between 6 a.m. and noon on both days. Mechanic Street will also close on October 29 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Onlookers gathered as workers assembled the elaborate set outside the Jean McDonough Arts Center. The arts center was covered with scaffolding and layered with faux urban details, traffic lights, train signage, and newspaper boxes to capture the show’s signature atmosphere of decay and survival.

Nearby, a striking prop setup featured a crushed yellow New York City taxi stacked beneath a weathered NYPD patrol car, evoking the series’ signature look of urban collapse. The visual chaos drew plenty of attention from passersby and fans alike.

This marks another return to Worcester for the AMC spin-off, which previously used the city’s streets as its backdrop during September’s production run. Fans of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who portrays Negan, were thrilled when he stopped to take photos and greet the crowd after a scene wrapped.

“There’s a lot of Worcester!” Morgan joked, highlighting the city’s growing role in the undead franchise’s expanding universe.
