Summary

– Bryan Danielson missed commentary duties at AEW WrestleDream 2025

– Tony Khan revealed Danielson had a family commitment that night

– Khan said he did not want to risk Danielson getting involved in the main event

Fans noticed that Bryan Danielson was not part of the commentary team at AEW WrestleDream, and Tony Khan has now explained why. During the post-show media scrum, the AEW President revealed that Danielson missed the event due to a family obligation.

“He’ll be back,” Khan said when asked about Danielson’s absence. “To be honest, there was a couple of things. I think it made sense, given what was happening with the main event. It would have been really hard for Bryan to restrain himself knowing what Jon Moxley had planned, and it would have been even harder to sit at the desk while Darby was in that position.”

Khan added that he encouraged Danielson to attend to his family rather than risk getting caught up in the chaos of the main event. “I told him, ‘Hey, if you have a family thing tonight, it’s probably the night to go. I don’t want to put you in a position where you might risk your job by getting up and interfering.’ So it worked out for everyone.”

The AEW WrestleDream main event saw Darby Allin defeat Jon Moxley in a brutal I Quit match, which ended with a surprise appearance from Sting. With Danielson expected to return soon, his next appearance behind the commentary desk could come as AEW builds toward its next major event.
