Psycho Killer compares new home to ECW and Ring of Honor
Summary
– Ciampa admits he had been leaning toward leaving for some time
– He feels AEW is the definitive place for wrestlers in the 2020s
– The move offers him the chance to collaborate on his character
Tommaso Ciampa has officially made the jump to All Elite Wrestling after leaving WWE. The veteran wrestler appeared on Dynamite one day after being moved to the alum section of his former employer.
He sat down with Sports Illustrated to discuss the motivation behind his departure. Ciampa explained that there was no single incident that led to the exit, but rather a growing feeling as his contract neared expiration.
The former champion compared the current era to previous decades of wrestling history. He stated that AEW is the destination for the 2020s just as ECW was in the 90s or Ring of Honor in the early 2000s.
Creative freedom played a major role in his decision to sign with the promotion. Ciampa praised the collaborative environment and noted that he can now execute ideas that were previously impossible.
He has already set his sights on gold by answering the open challenge for the TNT Championship. The Psycho Killer will make his in-ring debut this Saturday on Collision.
