All eight episodes arrive just before the new year

Summary

– Season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City hits Netflix US on December 31

– All eight episodes drop at once following the AMC run

– Season 3 is already completed and targeted for a 2026 return

Netflix has confirmed that The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 will arrive in the United States on December 31, giving fans a full-season binge to close out the year. The announcement comes as a late addition to Netflix’s December lineup and follows the show’s original broadcast on AMC earlier in 2025.

The second season includes eight episodes, expanding from the six-episode debut season. Episodes originally aired weekly on AMC and AMC+ starting May 4, 2025, and concluded in late June. The Netflix release applies only to the United States, as AMC’s Walking Dead spin-offs remain exclusive to Netflix US at this time.

Dead City continues the uneasy alliance between Maggie and Negan, portrayed by Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Season 2 escalates their fractured relationship as both characters end up on opposing sides of a growing conflict over control of Manhattan. A new power structure emerges with the introduction of the New Babylon Federation, raising the stakes across the city.

Returning cast members include Gaius Charles as Marshal Perlie Armstrong and Željko Ivanek as The Croat. Season 2 also introduces new faces, including Kim Coates as gang leader Bruegel, Dascha Polanco as Major Lucia Narvaez, and Keir Gilchrist as Benjamin Pierce.

AMC has already renewed the series for a third season, with production recently completed. Season 3 is expected to premiere in 2026 and will explore Maggie and Negan attempting to work together to build a stable community in Manhattan, while unresolved history threatens to undo their progress.
