The upcoming live action Street Fighter movie officially stepped into the spotlight during The Game Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Legendary Pictures and Paramount used the stage to debut the first teaser, confirming WWE’s Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes as part of the high profile cast.

Roman Reigns appeared during the live reveal and was introduced as Akuma, one of the franchise’s most feared characters. Cody Rhodes, who will play Guile, was not in attendance but was prominently featured in the teaser as a top billed name. The reveal marked a major crossover moment between professional wrestling and gaming culture.

The cast lineup features a blend of Hollywood, wrestling, and combat sports talent. Jason Momoa will portray Blanka, while also serving as a producer. Other roles will be filled by Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, David Dastmalchian, Andrew Schulz, Vidyut Jammwal, Eric André, Orville Peck, and several others. The film is being directed by Kitao Sakurai and shot with IMAX presentation in mind.

Paramount described the story as a return to the roots of the franchise, centered around Ryu and Ken being drawn into a new World Warrior Tournament that masks a deeper conspiracy. The goal is to honor the fast paced spirit of the original games while introducing the universe to a new generation of fans.

This project represents the first release under Legendary’s new distribution partnership with Paramount. It also serves as a fresh attempt to relaunch the Street Fighter film brand following earlier adaptations. Roman Reigns later fueled excitement on social media by teasing his Akuma role and embracing the darker tone of the character.
