Bethesda brings space RPG to new platform with enhanced features and DLC
Summary
– Starfield will launch on PlayStation 5 starting April 7
– The release includes a major update and new Terran Armada story DLC
– PS5 version features DualSense support and enhanced visuals on PS5 Pro
Starfield is officially heading to PlayStation 5, with Bethesda Game Studios confirming an April 7 release date for the platform.
The move marks a notable shift for the space exploration title, which was previously limited to Xbox and PC. Its arrival on PS5 places it alongside other Microsoft-owned titles that have expanded to competing platforms.
The PS5 launch will arrive alongside a major content update. The Free Lanes update will be the largest since the game’s original release, and the Terran Armada story expansion will join it, both available across all platforms.
Players on PS5 will also benefit from features designed around the DualSense controller. Adaptive triggers will allow more responsive weapon switching and system management, while the touchpad can be used to navigate maps and switch perspectives. Audio elements such as logs and ship communications will play directly through the controller speaker to enhance immersion.
Visual improvements are also part of the upgrade. The game has been optimized for PS5 Pro, with two display options: a 4K mode at 30 frames per second and a performance mode that delivers smoother gameplay at 60 frames per second with enhanced visuals.
The PS5 release marks another step in expanding Starfield’s reach while delivering updated features for both new and returning players.
