Sony is shutting down Bluepoint Games, the PlayStation studio known for acclaimed remakes including Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.
Reports indicate the closure will take place in March following a recent business review. Sony confirmed the decision in a statement, praising the team’s technical expertise and contributions to the PlayStation community.
Bluepoint was acquired by Sony in 2021 and most recently worked as a support studio on God of War Ragnarök. Its last major standalone release was the Demon’s Souls remake, a PlayStation 5 launch title. The studio had also been developing a live-service project that was canceled earlier in 2025.
Founded in 2006, the Texas-based developer built a reputation for high-quality remasters and remakes. It handled The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection on PS3 and helped bring Gravity Rush from PS Vita to PS4. Over time, Bluepoint became closely associated with reviving classic PlayStation titles.
The studio reportedly employed around 70 people. It remains unclear whether all staff members will be laid off or reassigned within PlayStation Studios.
