As The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon reaches its season 3 finale, Norman Reedus is taking a moment to reflect on an incredible 15-year journey with the franchise that made him a household name. The original series premiered on October 31, 2010, and Reedus remains one of the few actors still carrying its legacy forward.
“It’s been a great opportunity to be able to play this character this long and keep him interesting,” Reedus told ABC Audio. “It’s taught me a lot.”
Melissa McBride returned for season 3 as Carol, reuniting with Daryl after their emotional meeting in France last season. Reedus credits their real-life bond for the duo’s enduring on-screen chemistry. “When we’re in a scene together, I know it’s going to work,” he said. He added that he’s glad their relationship stayed grounded in friendship rather than romance. “They value their friendship so much that — why mess with it?”
This season also saw the production move to Spain, where Reedus says the fans’ energy stood out. “The Spanish people—they’re very passionate. They like to hug, they like to talk, they like to smile,” he said. “It’s really fun to be there and work there.”
Reedus teased that season 4 will take Daryl in a deeper, more reflective direction. “Daryl goes deep inside himself,” he revealed. “All we do is run and fight — maybe there’s a better way to live.”
Fifteen years later, Daryl Dixon remains one of TV’s most iconic survivors, and Reedus isn’t ready to hang up his crossbow just yet.
