Maxxine Dupri is embracing the challenge of growing under pressure. The WWE star spoke with Chris Van Vliet about navigating fan criticism, her ongoing evolution in the ring, and preparing for another showdown with Becky Lynch on Monday Night RAW. Despite facing harsh feedback online, Dupri says she’s learned to filter out the noise and stay focused on self-improvement.
“I think I’m always criticizing myself more than anyone else is,” Dupri admitted. “I recognize all of it, I promise you. But I also think it’s so great to hear the praise and hear that people feel something with you, but at the same time, that can all change in the blink of an eye.”
Rather than feeding into negativity, Dupri relies on advice from those she trusts, including peers who genuinely want her to succeed. “At the end of the day, I’m playing a character, and I love that the character makes them feel something good or bad. If they feel something, then I’ve done my job,” she said. “The criticism I take is from people that I really admire and look up to, and who I know are coming from a place of love and want to see me shine and grow.”
Reflecting on her first title match against Becky Lynch, Dupri called the experience both a dream come true and a valuable learning moment. “My first title match. And I was really excited to work Becky to feel her timing in the ring. And, of course, if you want to meet your hero, don’t meet Becky Lynch, obviously. And I came up short in that match.”
Since then, Dupri has spent countless hours training at Dungeon 2.0 under Natalya and TJ Wilson, fine-tuning her craft and reviewing every detail of her performance. “Having Nattie and TJ in there with me, just really fine-tuning, filming things, watching it back, seeing what needs to be adjusted, has been really, really important to my growth,” she explained.
With her rematch against Becky Lynch set for Monday, Dupri is entering the bout with renewed focus and confidence. She’s not chasing perfection—she’s chasing progress.
