Update follows tournament defeat and assault involving Bronson Reed and Logan Paul
Summary
– Knight lost to GUNTHER in the finals of The Last Time Is Now tournament
– A masked attacker and post match assault by Reed and Paul added to his rough week
– Fightful reports Knight still has years remaining on his WWE contract
L.A. Knight endured a difficult stretch across both Raw and SmackDown. His week began with a singles match against Logan Paul, only for a masked individual to interfere and cost him the victory. Moments later, Knight was blindsided backstage by Bronson Reed and Logan Paul. Reed sealed the attack by hitting a Tsunami onto Knight while he was laid out on the roof of a vehicle.
The troubles continued on Friday Night SmackDown, where Knight faced GUNTHER in the finals of The Last Time Is Now tournament. A win would have secured John Cena’s final opponent. Despite the opportunity and the stakes, Knight was unable to overcome GUNTHER’s power, dropping the match and losing his shot at Cena.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp provided an update on Knight’s long-term WWE standing. According to Sapp, Knight still has years left on his current contract, signaling that his recent storyline setbacks do not reflect any change in his status with the company.
WWE sources confirmed to @FightfulSelect that LA Knight still has years left on his WWE deal, and were surprised that some fans considered Monday's angle a burial.
