– The investigation involves an alleged rideshare altercation in Los Angeles

– No charges have been filed as prosecutors await additional information

The legal case involving actor Kiefer Sutherland remains unresolved as authorities continue to investigate an alleged incident with a ride-share driver in Los Angeles. Prosecutors confirmed that the matter is still under review and has not progressed to formal charges.

Sutherland was scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom on February 2, 2026. That appearance was placed on hold after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office sent the case back to police for additional investigation.

The arrest stems from an incident on January 12 near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Police responded to a radio call about an altercation involving a ride-share driver and Sutherland.

According to law enforcement sources, the driver claimed Sutherland punched him multiple times and attempted to choke him. Police previously stated there were no injuries requiring medical treatment, and Sutherland was not arrested on suspicion of assault.

Sutherland was taken into custody and later released after posting a $50,000 bond. Jail records confirmed the bond amount, while the actor has not made any public statements regarding the situation.

As investigators continue to gather information, prosecutors have not indicated when a charging decision may be made. The case remains open as authorities determine the next steps.
