The former WWE Champion has signed on to star in Netflix’s upcoming comedy One Attempt Remaining. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Garner, Saturday Night Live alum Kate McKinnon, and Aimee Carrero.
Directed by Kay Cannon, the story follows an ex-couple who discover that the cryptocurrency they won during a wild cruise years ago has skyrocketed in value. The catch is that they cannot remember the password. With just three days before the account expires, they revisit the events of that chaotic night in hopes of unlocking the fortune and confronting what drove them apart.
Details about Cena’s character have not been revealed. Production is being handled by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine for 21 Laps, alongside Nicole King and Garner. Cannon, Becca Edelman, Deanna Barillari, and Bergen Swanson serve as executive producers.
The project marks another collaboration between Cena and Netflix. He recently wrapped filming on Little Brother, a comedy co-starring Eric André. His schedule also includes high-profile releases such as Coyote vs. Acme and Matchbox: The Movie, adding to a growing list of major studio work.
