Uso advances in The Last Time Is Now tournament
Summary
– Jey Uso overcomes The Miz to move forward in the tournament
– Miz controls long stretches but can’t finish after multiple near-falls
– Uso joins Rusev and Sheamus in advancing toward a showdown with #JohnCena
The Miz walked into SmackDown determined to rewrite his story, reminding the WWE Universe that he has beaten #JohnCena before and believes he deserves to be viewed on that same level. With a shot at Cena’s final match on the line, The A-Lister came into the tournament meeting against Jey Uso with supreme confidence.
Early on, Miz’s scouting paid off. He countered Uso’s offense, grounded the pace, and nearly stole the win with a snap DDT and a crushing double–knees spike that folded Uso vertically. His 4–1 career record over Uso had him feeling in control, and he played into the moment by mocking Cena in the middle of the match as he lined up for a potential finish.
Uso battled through the pressure despite having WarGames on the horizon. Miz continued to stay a step ahead, countering the superkick and hitting the Skull-Crushing Finale from behind, but Uso refused to stay down. Each kickout stunned Miz further as the crowd rallied behind Main Event Jey.
With the match slipping away, Miz attempted a second–rope Finale to close things out. Uso fought free, used the ropes to stun Miz, and quickly scaled the top turnbuckle. One explosive splash later, the match was over.
Jey Uso secured the victory and advanced deeper into The Last Time Is Now tournament.
