Summary
– Jacy Jayne discusses the responsibility of leading NXT as champion
– Reflects on transition from Toxic Attraction to singles success
– Says she thrives under pressure heading into Halloween Havoc
NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne has become one of the central figures in the modern era of the black-and-gold brand. After nearly five years of growth in the system, Jayne is now responsible for being the division’s top star.
Speaking with The Takedown on Sports Illustrated ahead of Halloween Havoc, Jayne opened up about how her current role differs from her early years. She recalled learning alongside Mandy Rose and Gigi Dolin in Toxic Attraction, but acknowledged that being champion means no one else can lean on when things go wrong.
“When I first started, I was obviously with Toxic Attraction and I was only one person in that group,” Jayne said. “If I was having an off night, my teammates could pick up the slack. Now, everything falls on me, and I love that challenge.”
Jayne credited her experience in the faction for preparing her to lead by example today. She noted that representing NXT as its women’s champion is more than just defending a title. It is about setting the standard for the entire roster.
