Summary

– HOOK has confirmed his first lead role in an upcoming indie film

– His short film Money Talks premiered at Tribeca and reached the Oscar long list

– HOOK says acting is a serious pursuit alongside his wrestling career

HOOK is officially stepping deeper into the film world with his first lead acting role in an upcoming independent movie. The AEW star confirmed the news while discussing his growing interest in acting and creative storytelling outside the ring.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, HOOK reflected on his debut short film Money Talks, a project he co-created with his college roommate. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and later earned a spot on the Oscar long list for Best Live Action Short Film.

While the project did not advance to the final Oscar shortlist, HOOK made it clear that the experience only motivated him further. He acknowledged the recognition as a major milestone and admitted he felt the film deserved more attention.

HOOK revealed that his next project will give him his first opportunity as the lead actor. The upcoming film is set in New York City during inauguration day in 1981 and follows a unique structure centered on a $100 bill as it passes from person to person.

He explained that the film connects multiple disconnected stories through the currency, ultimately tying them together by the end. The concept allows him to take on a more prominent role while exploring character-driven storytelling.

HOOK also noted that acting was not a path his father, Taz, ever pursued, making this venture a personal challenge. Despite the added focus on film, he emphasized that wrestling remains a priority and that his in-ring character remains his top priority.

With festival recognition already behind him and a lead role ahead, HOOK is positioning himself as more than just a wrestler. His move into acting signals a broader career vision that continues to grow.
