Intercontinental Champion remains stateside days before major event
Summary
– Dominik Mysterio has been sidelined with a shoulder injury since December 20
– He was recently spotted at a wrestling school in Las Vegas, days before the Royal Rumble
– It appears unlikely he will compete in Saudi Arabia as the rest of his faction has already traveled overseas
The upcoming WWE Royal Rumble in Riyadh has raised questions regarding the participation of Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio. He has been out of action since December 20 after suffering a shoulder injury during an appearance for AAA. The incident occurred during a tag team match when his father, Rey Mysterio, reversed a move into a DDT, which caused an awkward landing.
Initial reports indicated that surgery would not be required for the issue and anticipated a recovery window of three to four weeks. WWE quietly removed him from post-Christmas live events and officially acknowledged the absence on the December 29 episode of RAW.
Mysterio surfaced publicly on January 29 at the Future Stars of Wrestling Arena in Las Vegas, just two days before the Royal Rumble. His presence in Nevada suggests he is not currently in Saudi Arabia for the premium live event. Other members of The Judgment Day have already arrived overseas for the show, which makes Dominik’s potential participation in the 30-man match appear doubtful.
