Mysterio says the segment was part tribute, part discipline
Summary
– Dominik says mini Cena went off script, leading to the attack
– Claims the moment was meant as homage to #JohnCena during his retirement tour
– Segment becomes one of RAW’s most talked-about moments
Dominik Mysterio has offered his explanation for why he attacked the mini version of John Cena on the November 24 episode of WWE RAW. The moment drew immediate backlash, but Dominik insists the situation wasn’t as unhinged as it looked.
Speaking with Sam Roberts and Meghan Morant, Dominik said he hoped Cena saw the kick delivered to “Little John,” claiming the performer stepped outside their agreed plan. He emphasized that he only acted because the mini-Cena went off script and needed to be put back in line.
Dominik said the attack was never intended as disrespect. Instead, he framed the entire segment as a tribute to Cena’s retirement tour. He explained that his goal was to recreate the moment he famously interrupted Cena at Madison Square Garden, a promo he still considers one of his top career highlights.
He added that Cena’s theatrical nature made him confident the Legend would appreciate someone portraying him on television. Dominik believed the homage fit perfectly with the tone of Cena’s farewell run.
The segment itself became one of the most buzzworthy parts of the broadcast. After Cena’s music hit and the crowd erupted, a little person dressed as Cena appeared and mimicked the iconic entrance. Dominik feigned indifference before attacking him, hitting the 619 and frog splash until Rey Mysterio ran out to stop him.
It was later confirmed that the performer was Syko from Discovery’s Big Little Brawlers and a top name in the Micro Wrestling Federation. The moment added another layer to Dominik’s chaotic heel persona and sparked widespread discussion online.
