Former WWE superstar Sasha Banks quickly transitioned to NJPW after leaving the company and winning the women’s title, known as the IWGP Women’s Championship, under her new moniker Mercedes Mone. However, her reign as champion came to an end on Sunday’s STARDOM’s All-Star Grand Queendom event.
Mercedes Mone faced off against Mayu Iwatani in a highly-anticipated match for the IWGP Women’s Title. Unfortunately, she was unable to retain her championship, and Mayu Iwatani emerged victorious.
Mercedes Mone faced backlash for her cringe-worthy guitar promo on Mayu, and losing her title may give her more time to pursue her music career. While sportsmanship was shown in the ring as the two competitors hugged after the match, Mercedes Mone’s tweet reveals her disappointment in losing the title.
Her future in Japan is uncertain at this point, and Mercedes Mone may decide to explore other options available to her at this point in her career. Nonetheless, her loss of the IWGP Women’s Championship marks a significant moment in her wrestling journey.
I feel broke 😫! But I called my CPA’s and they told me I’m still rich so I will be okay!
Until next time 🇯🇵
