Referee Tim White Receives the WWE Warrior Award

Published on

WWE has announced that the late referee Tim White will receive this year’s Warrior Award. The award is presented to an individual who embodies the indomitable spirit of The Ultimate Warrior, exhibiting unwavering strength and perseverance while living life with courage and compassion.

White passed away last June at the age of 68. During his 24-year career with WWE, he primarily served as a referee, overseeing some of the biggest matches in WWE history, including the Mankind vs. Undertaker Hell in a Cell match at King of the Ring 1998.

White’s career with WWE began in 1985 as Andre the Giant’s assistant and part-time official. In 2002, a shoulder injury suffered during the Hell in a Cell match between Triple H and Chris Jericho put an end to his refereeing career. He made a brief return to officiate Jericho vs. Christian at WrestleMania XX but re-injured his shoulder on the three-count and retired permanently after that.

White will be the ninth person to receive the Warrior Award, joining the likes of Connor “The Crusher” Michalek, Joan Lunden, Eric LeGrand, Jarrius “JJ” Robertson, Sue Aitchison, Rich Hering, and Titus O’Neil. WWE honors individuals who exemplify the strength and resilience of The Ultimate Warrior, and it is a fitting tribute to White’s contributions to the company over the years.
