Jon Moxley reportedly declined to participate in AEW’s Stadium Stampede match

All Elite Wrestling has given their performers a lot of creative freedom to express themselves and make their mark on the industry. One wrestler who has made a name for himself in both AEW and other promotions is Jon Moxley. The former WWE superstar has been able to showcase his unique style and brutal in-ring skills since joining AEW, as well as having a larger say in his storylines.

AEW has become known for its signature matches, such as the Stadium Stampede match that took place at Double or Nothing in 2020. However, Moxley recently revealed that he refused to participate in a Stadium Stampede match.

In a candid conversation with his wife, Renee Paquette, on her podcast The Sessions, Moxley shared the story of how he rejected the idea of doing a Stadium Stampede match. He explained that the whole idea behind Anarchy in the Arena, a match that took place at Double or Nothing 2021, was to avoid doing another Stadium Stampede.

Moxley said, “That was the whole idea behind Anarchy in the Arena. They wanted to do a Stadium Stampede again and I was like, ‘I ain’t doing that.’ That’s how the conversation started anyway. It was like, ‘I ain’t doing that’ or whatever. ‘Okay, if I was gonna do it, I would do it once in one take, live in front of the whole crowd’ and that was Anarchy in the Arena.”

The Anarchy in the Arena match turned out to be a memorable moment for fans, even though it wasn’t a Stadium Stampede. It’s interesting that Moxley refused to participate in a Stadium Stampede match, considering the extreme and dangerous matches he has agreed to in the past.

Despite his refusal to participate in a Stadium Stampede match, Moxley continues to be a valuable member of the AEW roster, and fans can look forward to seeing him compete in upcoming matches and storylines.
