Austin Theory has quickly become one of WWE’s most promising young talents, with a massive WrestleMania 39 match against John Cena on the horizon. However, his partnership with WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon propelled him to the top of the company’s programming and storylines.
During a recent interview with Stadium Astro, Austin Theory shared details about how he became Vince McMahon’s protege. According to Theory, it all started with a 15-minute meeting during his time doing dark matches before reaching the main roster. McMahon had heard positive feedback from producers, agents, and other insiders about Theory’s potential and wanted to learn more about him.
During the meeting, Theory emphasized his passion, work ethic, and personal values, which impressed McMahon. This led to the Chairman testing Theory’s confidence during his first TV appearance by telling him to go out and be himself. From there, Theory’s career took off, culminating in his capture of the WWE United States title and Money in the Bank briefcase.
Although McMahon’s retirement in 2022 marked the end of their partnership, Theory credits the Chairman for his success and remains grateful for the opportunity to work with him.
Now, Austin Theory is gearing up for his highly-anticipated match at WrestleMania 39, where he will defend his WWE United States title against none other than John Cena. The opening contest of Night 1 is sure to be a thrilling showdown, with wrestling fans around the world eagerly anticipating the outcome. All eyes will be on Theory as he looks to emerge victorious against one of the industry’s most iconic stars on the grandest stage of them all.
