Cody Rhodes, one of WWE’s top stars, continues to make waves within the organization following his impressive showing at WrestleMania 38. During this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, Rhodes wasn’t content to sit on the sidelines and watch the action unfold.
In the show’s opening segment, Rhodes attempted to reconcile former rivals Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, who had been feuding for some time. After a rocky start, Rhodes’ efforts paid off, and Owens and Zayn joined forces to take on their opponents together.
But Rhodes still needed to be done. During a dark match that kicked off the show, he watched as Braun Strowman and Ricochet teamed up against Hit Row. And in the second dark match of the night, Rhodes was given the opportunity to challenge Austin Theory for the United States Championship. The intense match ended with Rhodes winning by disqualification when The Bloodline interfered.
Rhodes was not the only one fighting; Owens and Zayn rushed in dramatically to save him from The Bloodline’s attack. This unforeseen collaboration resulted in a stunning conclusion to an already exciting episode of SmackDown.
