After being released from their contracts by WWE, AOP members Akam and Rezar remain out of the pro wrestling spotlight. However, recent reports suggest that the duo’s impressive physical condition caught the attention of their former employer. According to Sean Sapp of Fightful, WWE is reportedly considering bringing back the Authors of Pain, and veteran manager Paul Ellering may facilitate negotiations.
We had mentioned recently that WWE had been interested in the Authors of Pain. Those we’ve spoken to say the duo have an incredible amount of loyalty to Paul Ellering, and that Ellering would be heading up negotiating the deal.
While working together, Vince McMahon made several changes to Triple H’s creative direction for NXT. When Paul Ellering was called up to the main roster as AOP’s manager, he lasted only a short time, but McMahon, rather than Ellering, reportedly made that decision. However, recent rumors suggest that Triple H may be considering reuniting AOP. While it remains to be seen how the duo would fare under Triple H’s booking on the WWE main roster, many fans believe they would be in good hands. Although AOP did win the tag team championship under McMahon’s direction, they were a more dominant force under Triple H’s guidance in NXT. As WrestleMania approaches, it’s unclear whether AOP will make their WWE return at SoFi Stadium, but anything is possible in the unpredictable world of pro wrestling.
