The Royal Rumble is a major event on the WWE calendar and usually features the company’s biggest stars. However, Charlotte Flair, the “Smackdown” Women’s Champion, will not have a match on the card. Instead, her next title defense will be on an upcoming episode of “Smackdown.” Other matches include Bianca Belair vs. Alexa Bliss for the “Raw Women’s Championship.”
Since her return to WWE earlier this month and winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship by defeating Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair has been facing a determined Sonya Deville. On January 6, Deville lost a title match against Flair. Since then, she has been challenging the champion verbally and physically to earn another shot at the title.
After her interview on the “Out of Character” podcast was disrupted by Sonya Deville, Charlotte Flair had had enough. The 14-time champion went to WWE official Adam Pearce and requested a match to be scheduled as both competitors were eager to face each other.
On the February 3 episode of “WWE SmackDown” on Fox, Charlotte Flair and Sonya Deville will face off in the ring for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. This episode will also feature the final of the “SmackDown” Tag Team Championship Tournament, where Imperium will face off against a last-minute team of Braun Strowman and Ricochet. This episode promises to be exciting for the blue brand after the Royal Rumble.
