According to the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter,” Matt Riddle has completed his six-week rehab stint after failing a second drug test. He received his blackbelt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu while training under Daniel Gracie.
It is still being determined whether Matt Riddle will be able to return to the ring this weekend at the Royal Rumble, as there have been conflicting reports about the length of his suspension. Initially, it was reported that Riddle would be taking six weeks off for rehab after failing a second drug test, which would have allowed him to return for the Royal Rumble. However, WWE’s policy for a second violation is a two-month suspension, which would mean Riddle would miss the Royal Rumble. Previously, Riddle failed a drug test over the summer, and a planned match with Seth Rollins had to be pulled from SummerSlam.
Matt Riddle has had a challenging time within WWE, as his tag team partner Randy Orton is currently out with a back injury. Riddle has been unsuccessful in winning several championships, including the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship, WWE Tag Team Championship, and the United States Championship. Additionally, he has been struggling in his personal life as he stated in an October interview that his “personal life is in shambles.”
