An Unplanned Move Turned Into Trick Williams’ Signature Finisher

Summary

– Trick Williams’ finisher, The Trick Shot, was born out of an accidental moment in the ring.

– During a match with Ilja Dragunov, Williams instinctively used a knee strike that stunned the crowd.

– The dramatic impact of the move inspired Williams to make it his new finisher.

Trick Williams, one of the most athletic stars in WWE, recently opened up about how his finisher, The Trick Shot, came to life by accident. Known for his powerful strikes, Williams has a particular fondness for knee strikes that take advantage of his speed and agility in the ring. During an appearance on Fox Sports’ The Happy Hour, Williams discussed how the finisher wasn’t part of his original repertoire but evolved unexpectedly during an intense match.

“It was actually accidental,” Williams explained, recalling his match against Ilja Dragunov. “It was Ilja Dragunov-Trick Williams 2. It was just a fight. He’s hitting me in the face, he’s hitting me in the mouth. At that point, I thought, ‘I’m going to hurt you. Whatever happens, happens.’ The first thing that came to my mind was putting my knee right in the middle of his forehead.” Williams didn’t hold back, delivering a knee strike that sent Dragunov flipping backward, leaving the crowd in awe as Dragunov bled from the impact.

Before that moment, Williams’ finisher had been a spinning Trick kick. However, the reaction from both Dragunov and the crowd convinced Williams that the knee strike was a more fitting move to close out his matches. “When it came down to it, and I wanted to inflict as much pain as possible, putting my knee right in the middle of your forehead seemed like a pretty good idea,” he shared.

The Trick Shot has now become a signature move for Williams, and the unplanned, intense moment with Dragunov has cemented the move as part of his identity in the ring, demonstrating how instinct and improvisation often create the most memorable moments in wrestling.
