NXT Sees Strong Numbers Despite Competition from AEW, MLB, and NHL

Summary

– WWE NXT averaged 874,000 viewers in its second week on The CW, down 2.4 percent from the premiere.

– The show drew a 0.24 rating in the 18-49 demo, the second-highest on The CW in 2024.

– NXT faced strong competition from AEW Dynamite, MLB playoffs, and NHL season openers.

Tuesday night’s episode of WWE NXT saw a slight dip in viewership during its second week on The CW Network, pulling in 874,000 viewers. This marks a 2.4 percent decline from last week’s premiere, but it’s still NXT’s second-highest audience total since October 2023.

The episode drew a 0.24 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, down 7.7 percent from the premiere. However, it still ties the highest rating for NXT since June and ranks second-highest rating for any show on The CW this year.

NXT’s second hour went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite’s “Title Tuesday” episode while also competing against the MLB playoffs and the start of the NHL season. This stiff competition likely contributed to the slight drop in viewership.

Compared to the same week in 2023, NXT’s overall viewership was down 5.1 percent, and its 18-49 demo rating dropped 20 percent. Last year’s episode had the added star power of The Undertaker, John Cena, and Cody Rhodes, which also went up against AEW Dynamite’s “Title Tuesday.”

Despite the competition, NXT featured top-tier matches, including Randy Orton headlining the main event with a victory over Je’Von Evans.
